The brain wave of some prominant Indians who wanted to form a platform for Indian jewellers to voice their complaints and their appreciation, was mooted with the help of the Indian Embassy in the year 1993.When the concerned Indian diplomat left the idea gathered dust and was lost in the files. Not till a couple of years back,in 2008 was this idea again given prominence and a few jewellers took the task to give a name to the organisation, a name aptly suggested by Mr.Sanjay Bhandari, and roundly accepted by the rest of the members. And thus IJAJ-Indian Jewellers Association of Japan was born.
The organisation was given the status of NPO(non-profit organisation) by the Japanese government a first by a jewellery organisation. The effort was the result of the hours of selfless service given by Mr.Sunil Jain who was instrumental in creating this historic moment.
The humble beginings.
In 2008 a group of Indian jewellers tried to form an association for indian jewellers. But this group was not very responsive to the needs of the common jeweller and as a result another group took the matter in their hands and decided to form the organisation which had an original membership of 31 members.A committee was formed and slowly the agenda and the program of the association started to take shape.
Kofu and Kansai.
The jewellers wholehearted gave their support to the association and the members doubled in a month. At present we have members from all over Japan, infact we are also getiing requests from jewellers from all major diamond centers of the world to become members.
